December 2024 and January 2025 at Bosco Bracco: Festivities, Winter Beauty, and Seasonal Tradition
As the calendar turned from December to January, Bosco Bracco welcomed a magical holiday season and the peaceful beauty of winter in Piedmont. Here’s a look at what the past two months have brought to our villa, vineyards, and the surrounding region.
Festive Celebrations and Holiday Traditions
We had the pleasure of hosting guests from the United States over the holidays, giving them an authentic taste of Italian Christmas and New Year traditions. From Canelli’s charming Christmas markets to festive feasts featuring local specialties, our guests experienced the joy and warmth of the season.
In Piedmont, Christmas markets transform village squares into sparkling wonderlands, offering everything from handcrafted gifts to mulled wine and roasted chestnuts. The nearby towns of Alba, Asti, and Acqui Terme provide enchanting settings for holiday strolls. Our guests also delighted in regional Christmas traditions like Panettone and Torrone for dessert after hearty meals featuring vitello tonnato (veal with tuna sauce) or tajarin pasta with truffles.
Winter Sports and Alpine Adventures
For those seeking outdoor adventure, winter in the Piedmont region offers incredible opportunities for skiing and snowboarding in the Alps. Resorts like Sestriere, Bardonecchia, and Limone Piemonte are just a short drive from Bosco Bracco, providing world-class slopes with breathtaking mountain views. Truffle season also wrapped up at the end of December, offering one last chance for enthusiasts to savor this prized delicacy fresh from the forests.
Winterizing at Bosco Bracco
December brought colder days and crisp, clear skies, which transformed the landscapes around Bosco Bracco. While the lush greens of the vineyards are now dormant until spring, the terraces and gardens remain a serene retreat. Winterizing efforts have prepared the property for the colder months, and the vistas from the villa now include the snow-capped Alps glistening in the distance. It’s a quieter but no less beautiful time at Bosco Bracco, ideal for reflection and enjoying the peaceful rhythm of winter.
Wine Industry in January
January is a quieter month in the winemaking process, allowing our wines to rest and develop in the cantina. It’s also a time for planning and preparing for the year ahead. Local wineries, including Bosco Bracco, focus on maintenance and early bottling preparations. The first quarter of the year is an essential period for quality control, ensuring that the 2024 vintage will meet the highest standards when it’s ready for bottling and release.
Looking Ahead
As we savor the beauty and stillness of winter, we are also preparing for exciting times ahead. DeVonne and Jeff are booked to return in April, assisting with the bottling of 10,000 to 15,000 bottles from our 2024 harvest. This will be a significant milestone as we prepare to share the fruits of the past year with wine lovers near and far.
Winter at Bosco Bracco is a time of quiet beauty, reflection, and preparation for the vibrant seasons to come. Whether enjoying the serene landscape, indulging in regional cuisine, or planning for the year ahead, there’s a timeless charm to this special place even in the heart of winter.
